Programmes and projects

  1. Developing the capacity of Employer organizations in Myanmar to promote Decent Work principles and sustainable enterprises

    Through this project, the ILO aims at developing the capacity of the central, selected sectorial (representing tourism and garment sectors) and regional organizations of business and employers in Myanmar.

  2. SafeYouth@Work Project: Building a Generation of Safe and Healthy Workers

    The US Department of Labor-funded SafeYouth@Work project aims to promote the occupational safety and health (OSH) of young workers, with a focus on those aged 15 to 24.

  3. Youth 4 OSH: OSH for Young Workers and Young Employers in Global Supply Chains —Building a Culture of Prevention

    The project seeks to reduce workplace injuries, fatalities, and occupational diseases through increased preventative safety actions by young workers and young employers in Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Viet Nam.

  4. Skills for Improvement of Livelihoods, Economic Opportunities and Security

    This project aims for an integrated policy for skills development in Myanmar Rakkhine State that would prepare the workforce and local businesses for current and future skill needs, in a way that is inclusive of poor and rural households and closely involves the private sector at all stage.

  5. Shan State, Myanmar – Peace, Reconciliation & Development through Community Empowerment

    Ceasefire and peace process efforts as part of the reforms since 2011 have presented new opportunities to work with communities and conflict parties to make a measurable contribution to peace at the local level in areas of Myanmar affected by conflict.

  6. Promotion of Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work as tools for Peace in Myanmar

    This project, which is funded by the European Union, aims to support the consolidation of the peace process through a holistic approach which will seek to address past, and prevent future, human rights abuses through the operation and extension of the Forced Labour Complaints Mechanism, the enhanced respect for International Labour Standards and national law and the promotion of the application of national and international labour standards in SEZs.

  7. Supporting the Improvement of the Legal and Institutional Framework on Occupational Safety and Health in Myanmar

    This project aims to contribute to better, safer and healthier working conditions in Myanmar.

  8. Supporting the Implementation of Sustainable Social Protection Floors for Workers and their Families in ASEAN

    This project aims to build a better social protection system for ASEAN countries by securing income, increasing access to social services, and enhancing the employability of female and male workers, with a specific focus on two countries; Cambodia and Myanmar.

  9. Supporting Tourism in Myanmar through Business Management Training

    The project will create in-country capacity for the roll-out of entrepreneurship and business skills training and provision of related support services for entrepreneurs in the tourism sector who in turn are expected to contribute to job creation and the improvement of working conditions among SME workers.

  10. Prevent the recruitment and use of children by armed forces/groups in Myanmar as an entry point for durable peace

    The project will support the implementation of the Joint Action Plan to end and prevent the recruitment and use of children by the Tatmadaw, to identify, verify and discharge underage recruits still associated with the Tatmadaw as well as support their reintegration back into their communities.
