Programmes and projects

  1. Responsible Supply Chains in Asia - Myanmar

    The Responsible Supply Chains in Asia programme aims to promote responsible business practices into the operations of multinational companies and their supply chains. Active in six Asian countries, the programme in the Myanmar is working to enhance respect for labour rights and environmental standards among multinational enterprises with supply chains in the seafood and agricultural export industries.

  2. Responsible Supply Chains in Asia

    The Responsible Supply Chains in Asia programme aims to further sustainable and inclusive economic, social and environmental progress by integrating responsible business practices into the operations of multinational companies and their supply chains. Active in selected industrial sectors in six Asian countries, it takes a multifaceted approach with the aim of promoting respect for human rights, and labour and environmental standards.

  3. Improving Labour Relations for Decent Work and Sustainable Development in the Myanmar Garment Industry (ILO – GIP)

    The ILO-GIP project aims to reduce poverty and contribute to the empowerment of Myanmar women working in the garment industry by improving labour relations, social dialogue and gender equality.

  4. Developing the capacity of Employer organizations in Myanmar to promote Decent Work principles and sustainable enterprises

    Through this project, the ILO aims at developing the capacity of the central, selected sectorial (representing tourism and garment sectors) and regional organizations of business and employers in Myanmar.

  5. SafeYouth@Work Project: Building a Generation of Safe and Healthy Workers

    The US Department of Labor-funded SafeYouth@Work project aims to promote the occupational safety and health (OSH) of young workers, with a focus on those aged 15 to 24.

  6. Youth 4 OSH: OSH for Young Workers and Young Employers in Global Supply Chains —Building a Culture of Prevention

    The project seeks to reduce workplace injuries, fatalities, and occupational diseases through increased preventative safety actions by young workers and young employers in Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Viet Nam.

  7. Skills for Improvement of Livelihoods, Economic Opportunities and Security

    This project aims for an integrated policy for skills development in Myanmar Rakkhine State that would prepare the workforce and local businesses for current and future skill needs, in a way that is inclusive of poor and rural households and closely involves the private sector at all stage.

  8. Shan State, Myanmar – Peace, Reconciliation & Development through Community Empowerment

    Ceasefire and peace process efforts as part of the reforms since 2011 have presented new opportunities to work with communities and conflict parties to make a measurable contribution to peace at the local level in areas of Myanmar affected by conflict.

  9. Promotion of Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work as tools for Peace in Myanmar

    This project, which is funded by the European Union, aims to support the consolidation of the peace process through a holistic approach which will seek to address past, and prevent future, human rights abuses through the operation and extension of the Forced Labour Complaints Mechanism, the enhanced respect for International Labour Standards and national law and the promotion of the application of national and international labour standards in SEZs.

  10. Supporting the Improvement of the Legal and Institutional Framework on Occupational Safety and Health in Myanmar

    This project aims to contribute to better, safer and healthier working conditions in Myanmar.
