A World of Work Free from Violence and Harassment

About the event

Violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread and sadly the most tolerated violation of human rights. It occurs everywhere: at home, in schools, on the streets and at work.

Gender-based violence, defined as violence and harassment directed at persons because of their sex or gender, undermines equality at work by calling into question the integrity, dignity and well-being of workers. Gender-based violence creates significant health, economic and career costs for victims and results in large monetary costs for governments and employers, particularly in terms of medical care and counselling, lost productivity, judicial monetary awards and lead to significant reputational costs.

Please join our upcoming Global Discussion Series which brings together leaders in the global efforts to eliminate violence and harassment in the world of work and hear how the ILO Convention No. 190, the first international treaty to recognize the right of everyone to a world of work free from violence and harassment, can be applied globally.
