conducting research and providing training to ILO member States on a range
of vocational training issues related to changing labour market needs (e.g.
financial crisis, industrialization, globalization and upgrading of skills
in the manufacturing industry);
assisting ILO member States to improve access to vocational training for
specific groups including women, youth, people with disabilities, and elderly;
promoting social dialogue and tripartite participation in training;
promoting partnerships and strengthening the role of the private sector
in vocational training;
sharing of experiences, expertise and information in vocational training;
fostering technical cooperation in vocational training among participating
countries; and
strengthening the capacity of workers and employers organizations to plan
and implement skills training.
