Projects

The ILO operates a wide range of programmes and projects in Indonesia and Timor-Leste focusing on employment promotion, stopping the exploitation at work and social dialogue. The overall purpose of this technical cooperation is to support implementation of the Decent Work agenda in both countries.

    Improving Workers’ Rights in Rural Sectors of the Indo-Pacific with a focus on Women

    The project, funded by the US Department of Labour (USDOL), aims to improve workers’ rights in rural sectors in Indonesia and the Philippines with a focus on women.

    Promoting and Building Social Protection in Asia (Indonesia - 4th phase)

    The project builds on the achievements made by ‘the ILO/Japan project for promoting and building social protection in Asia (3rd phase): Extending social security coverage in ASEAN (2016 – 2019)’ as well as other development cooperation projects.

  1. Advancing Workers' Rights in Indonesia's Palm Oil Sector

    7 September 2019 - 31 August 2023

    The overall objective of the project is to ensure that Indonesian unions in the palm oil supply chain effectively advocate for their members’ access to fundamental workers’ rights, in particular freedom of association and collective bargaining.

  2. Skills for Prosperity Programme in Indonesia

    1 November 2019 - 31 March 2023

    Funded by the United Kingdom government, this project aims to improve the country’s skills development policies and systems and enhance employability and future-readiness of young women and men including those from disadvantaged groups aspiring to pursue and advance career in the maritime industry.

  1. Safe and Fair: Realizing women migrant workers’ rights and opportunities in the ASEAN region

    1 January 2018 - 31 December 2022

    The project is part of the EU-UN Spotlight Initiative to eliminate violence against women and girls, a global, multi-year initiative between the European Union and United Nations. Safe and Fair is implemented through a partnership between the ILO and UN Women, in collaboration with UNODC, with the overriding objective of ensuring that labour migration is safe and fair for all women in the ASEAN region.

  2. ILO/Japan Fund for Building Social Safety Nets in Asia and the Pacific (SSN Fund)

    15 June 2011 - 31 December 2022

    The SSN Fund aims to broaden the use of social safety nets through a wide range of projects to extend existing social security systems, promote occupational safety and health (OSH), develop human resources, strengthen labour inspection, eliminate forced labour and foster entrepreneurship. The Fund also responds to natural disasters by implementing crisis response activities in the affected areas to support disaster recovery.

  3. Better Work Programme in Indonesia - Stage IV

    1 January 2019 - 31 December 2022

    The Project aims to improve working conditions and productivity in targeted employment-intensive sectors by improving compliance with international core labour standards and Indonesian labour law. In tandem, the project will promote productivity and competitiveness of enterprises linked to the Indonesian global supply chain.

  4. Social Dialogue for Constructive Labour Relations, Application of International Labour Standards and Decent Work

    1 September 2020 - 31 July 2022

    This intervention will provide technical capacity building and advisory services to the government, employers’ and workers’ organization in improving government’s conciliation/mediation services, strengthening the culture of social dialogue and cooperation.

  5. Unemployment Protection in Indonesia – Quality Assistance for Workers Affected by Labour Adjustments (UNIQLO)

    1 August 2019 - 31 July 2022

    The ILO/UNIQLO project is a unique public private partnership that aims to strengthen support mechanisms for unemployed workers in Indonesia by designing an effective employment insurance (EI) system, expanding re-skilling training and improving public employment services.

  6. Spotlight Initiative in Timor-Leste – A Joint EU-UN Initiative to Eliminate Violence Against Women and Girls

    1 January 2020 - 30 June 2022

    The Spotlight Initiative is a global partnership to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls, which is being funded by the EU and implemented through five UN agencies in Timor- Leste: ILO, UN Women, UNDP, UNFPA and UNICEF.

  7. Enhancing COVID-19 Prevention at and through Workplaces: Job creation through Business Re-opening and Continuation

    1 April 2021 - 31 May 2022

    The project aims to enhance COVID-19 prevention measures at and through workplaces amidst of the pandemic that will facilitate business re-opening, continuation and expansion.

  8. Supporting Recovery from the COVID-19 Pandemic through Targeted Employment-Intensive Emergency Public Works for the Rural Poor and Vulnerable in Timor-Leste

    3 August 2020 - 31 March 2022

    The project supports recovery of the COVID-19 pandemic by providing direct employment opportunities for the rural poor and vulnerable population through routine road maintenance activities.

  9. Enhancing Rural Access Agro-Forestry Project (ERA Agro-Forestry)

    1 June 2017 - 31 March 2022

    The Project aims to contribute to a peaceful, inclusive and sustainable development in Timor-Leste, through improved rural access, the creation of employment, economic and domestic revenue opportunities through agro-forestry development, and a durable reduction in food insecurity and malnutrition in rural areas. This project is funded by the European Union.

  10. Employment and Livelihood Project

    1 January 2021 - 28 February 2022

    This joint project between ILO, UNDP, UNHCR and UNAIDS aims to support women and vulnerable groups in Indonesia that have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19.

  11. Industry Skills for Inclusive Growth Phase 2 - Indonesia

    14 February 2019 - 28 February 2022

    The InSIGHT Phase 2 Project aims to explore and prove that a skills-driven approach is an appropriate ‘pathway’ to deliver inclusive growth in Asia.

  4. Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprises (SCORE) Project - Phase III

    Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprises (SCORE) is an ILO global programme that improves productivity and working conditions in small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The key intervention of the global programme is support for the implementation of SCORE Training, which combines practical classroom training with in-factory consulting.
