  1. Indonesia: Skilled Hands from the Islands of Mentawai (2014)

    The video documents best practices and human stories of the ILO-Mentawai Programme as part of a joint UN effort, aimed to improve community welfare in the Mentawai Islands through capacity building and training programmes using the ILO’s ‘4 in 1” training methodology (combining skills survey, competency-based training and certification of competency as well as after training support), enterprise development and micro finance development. The video also captures the journey of local beneficiaries in starting their businesses and rebuilding their lives.

  2. Indonesia: Working out of Disaster - Mentawai (2014)

    The video highlights the importance of effective, systematic and comprehensive post disaster management. The video also captures the important roles played by the ILO in the disaster recovery process, particularly to ensure the post disaster economic recovery and livelihood development. The ILO's Local Resource-Based (LRB) approach and entrepreneurship training methodology have also been proven effective in creating job opportunities and created high quality rural infrastructure assets in a cost-effective way. It also empowers the local private sector and communities in rebuilding their lives through local economic activities and effective infrastructure investment which optimize the return of the money and investment to the locals.

  3. ILO SCORE Training Impact: Case Study P.T. Lestari Dini Tunggul, Indonesia

    Many SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) believe that they are running at optimal level doing as much as they can do to be competitive. This case study from P.T. Lestari, a manufacturer of industrial and hospital garments for over 30 years, illustrates the impact of the ILO SCORE programme in an established company in Indonesia. After participating in the ILO SCORE Training, the company discovered new ways to increase productivity, such as: better stock management leading to less waste, improved factory layout ensuring a smoother workflow, and fixing working hours generating savings on electricity.

  4. Indonesia: The innovation of entrepreneur curriculum

    This video captures the improvements in entrepreneurship teaching process by entrepreneurship teachers who received and implemented the Know About Business (KAB) Start Up and Go Module. The video demonstrates the transformation of a traditional learning process (one-way teaching process) to an interactive and active process using a video screening, guest speaker and interactive teaching tool. The programme was part of the ILO's Development of an Effective Entrepreneurship Programme, funded by Sida.

  5. Indonesia: Post-entrepreneurship training counselling

    Today's young Indonesians are better educated, but even with skills and education they have trouble finding work. Thus, the video shows young entrepreneurs who have successfully build a business after graduating from the six-day intensive entrepreneur training using the Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) module and receiving direct coaching for three months. There are other 59 young entrepreneurs in three cities (Yogyakarta, Solo and Semarang) participated in the ILO's Development of an Effective Entrepreneurship Programme, funded by Sida.

    The video highlights coaching process and improvement of business targeted to the vulnerable youth groups. The video documents the business coach activities conducted by Rumah Peka, a non-profit organization, which provided business coaching and trainings for former drug users so that they could start and manage a business and live a better life.   7. Indonesia: An inspiring story about green business

    The video documents success stories and learning processes of young entrepreneurs who received the Start and Improve Your Green Business (SYGB) training and coaching as well as start-up capital by the Central Bank of Indonesia. In the video, the young entrepreneurs demonstrate how they turn waste into a business. The programme was part of the ILO's Development of an Effective Entrepreneurship Programme, funded by Sida.   8. ERA Labour-based rural roads works and contractor training in Timor-Leste - EU & ILO partnership

    The European Union (EU) is improving the lives of rural people in Timor-Leste through the ERA Project. This project is implemented by the International Labour Organization (ILO) together with the Government of Timor-Leste with the objective of enhancing rural access by training and involving local entrepreneurs to rehabilitate and maintain rural roads using a labour-based approach.

  9. VCT@WORK launched in Indonesia

    The ILO in collaboration with UNAIDS and the Minister of Manpower and Transmigration launched the VCT@WORK initiative in commemoration of the World AIDS Day 2013. This initiative aims to reach 1 million women and men workers with 350,000 of them knowing their HIV status through voluntary counseling and confidential testing at work by World AIDS Day 2015.

  10. The Ministry of Health, PPPs and Trade Unions collaborate to promote VCT@WORK in Indonesia

    The Indonesian Ministry of Health, private companies and trade unions join hands to promote VCT@WORK in mining, transport, oil and energy sectors where workers will have the benefit of voluntary counseling and testing rights in their workplace. The initiative aims to reach 1 million workers by the end of 2015.

  4. Child domestic workers' song: I will reach my dream

    Child domestic workers at a learning centre in the suburbs of Jakarta dances to the tune of "Our song: I will reach my dream". The centre, run by an NGO Mitra Imadel, provides training to child domestic workers. It is operated under the ILO PROMOTE project funded by the US Department of Labor. PROMOTE aims to bring about a lasting end to child domestic labour, focusing on expanding legal protection for child and adult domestic workers. March 2013
