    The Director General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Mr Guy Ryder, will visit to Indonesia from 10 to 13 December 2014. This visit marks the first time that a Director General of the ILO will visit the country.

  3. Official launch of the R4D movie

    H. E. The Minister of Public Works, Sr. Gastão Francisco de Sousa, hosted a high-level event to officially launch a movie about the Roads for Development Program (R4D). Senior dignitaries from the Government of Timor-Leste, Donors and Development Partners have been invited to this launch which took place at the Terra Santa resort in Dili.

  6. ILO: Better Work Indonesia improves access to jobs in garment industry for people with disabilities

    According to a World Report on Disability (2011) published by The World Health Organization (WHO) and World Bank, there are roughly a billion people with disabilities in the world. Further, there are approximately 785 million of people with disabilities at their productive age, though the majority of them are unemployed. Those who are employed generally earn less compared with people who do not have disability and are often employed in the informal economy with minimal or no social protection.

    This year’s World Day against Child Labour is marked by a focus on the important role of social protection in ending child labour. Taking the theme: “Extend Social Protection to Combat Child Labour”, the International Labour Organization (ILO), in collaboration with Yayasan Sekar, is organising an event on Monday, 23 June 2014, at the educational shelter of Penjaringan, Jakarta to increase awareness on the existence of the social protection programmes and call for extension and improvement of efforts to fight and combat child labour in Indonesia.
