SIMPOC’s experience in providing technical assistance on child labour statistics to over 60 countries across the globe has resulted in a wide range of survey instruments. This includes questionnaires for collecting both quantitative and qualitative data, and by a variety of data collection methods.

For countries committed to developing a national child labour survey with relatively advanced data collection and processing capabilities, a comprehensive standard questionnaire has been elaborated. For other countries, a shorter questionnaire is recommended that facilitates the collection of essential child labour data. For researching the various worst forms of child labour, rapid assessment and baseline survey questionnaires are available. The Child Labour Statistics: Manual on methodologies for data collection through surveys contains sample questionnaires for the various types of child labour surveys.

As regards household-based national child labour surveys, the model questionnaires (provided in the Manual) have recently been revised and improved. In the following section two distinct instruments are available as well as a detailed interviewers’ manual on the implementation of these questionnaires.
