Meeting of Experts

Tripartite validation of the technical guidelines on general principles of labour inspection

The Governing Body of the International Labour Organization (ILO) at its 341st Session (March 2021), decided to convene a Meeting of Experts on technical guidelines on general principles of labour inspection.

The purpose of the Meeting will be to ensure that detailed guidance on certain principles contained in the Labour Inspection Convention, 1947 (No. 81) and the Labour Inspection (Agriculture) Convention, 1969 (No. 129), in line with Labour Inspection Recommendation, 1923 (No. 20) and modern international practice on labour inspection, is available for the use of constituents. These technical guidelines aim at enabling the withdrawal of the Labour Inspection Recommendation, 1923 (No. 20) at the 110th Session of the Conference (2022).

In line with the decision by the ILO Governing Body, this meeting will bring together eight experts in the field of labour inspection nominated by the eight selected governments, eight experts nominated by the employers' and eight experts nominated by the workers' groups of the ILO Governing Body respectively.

A number of intergovernmental organizations will also be invited to attend the meeting as observers.
