A pilot Labour Inspection Campaign to deter undeclared work discussed with Ukrainian labour inspectors

One of the outputs of the project "The Effectiveness of the Labour Inspection System and of Social Dialogue Mechanisms is Strengthened” consists in carrying out a pilot inspection campaign, made of both an informative and an enforcement component, to address undeclared work in Ukraine.

In this context, a two-day training for the labour inspectors participating in the implementation of the campaign in the four selected regions of the country (Lviv, Odessa, Kherson and Cherkassy) was carried out. The Head of State Labour Service (SLS) of Ukraine and SLS specialists also participated in the event.

The training combined traditional presentations with interactive sessions in which the labour inspectors, along with managers of the SLS and ILO international experts, had the opportunity to discuss and come up with practical conclusions on how to conduct an inspection visit, covering legal aspects and soft skills/strategies to detect undeclared work and how to maximize the information gathered during inspection visits.

At the end of the training, the labour inspectors were equipped with the necessary information to undertake the enforcement component of the pilot campaign to address undeclared work.
