High-level seminar on the “Sharing Economy and its Social Challenges”

ILO and the Permanent Mission of Belgium will jointly hold a High-level seminar on the “Sharing Economy and its Social Challenges” in Room II (R3 level, South) at ILO headquarters, Geneva, from 3.30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, 21 November, 2017.


The seminar < Sharing Economy and its Social Challenges > will have two key note speakers – Prof. Jeremias Prassl (University of Oxford) and Mr. Sangeet Paul Choudary, author of “Platform Scale/Platform Revolution” – followed by panel debates with the Belgium Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Work, the Singaporean Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Manpower and Home Affairs, the Director-General of the ILO, a member of the World Economic Forum, a high representative of Uber, as well as representatives of workers’ and employers’ organizations. This event will provide an input into the ILO’s Global Commission on Future of Work, which is the second stage of the Future of Work Centenary Initiative. (>>Event Programme)

Shortly after the panel event, we will host a live discussion with Amit Singh, Global Lead on Work Policy and Research for Uber, and Philip Jennings, General Secretary of UNI Global Union. That event will also be webcast on this webpage and on the ILO's page on Facebook.
