Collective agreements are the result of collective bargaining negotiations between one or more workers’ organizations on one hand and one or more employers or employers’ organizations on the other to determine working conditions and terms of employment and regulate the relationships between workers and employers and their respective organizations. As per general principles of contract law such agreements should be binding only on the signatory parties of the agreement. Nonetheless, often regulatory frameworks provide for the extension of collective agreements beyond the signatory parties subject to the respect of certain conditions or requirements.
