Employment and labour market policies for a just transition towards environmentally sustainable economy and societies for all

This brief technical note has been issued by the ILO Employment Policy Department in preparation for COP 22 in Marrakech (7-18 November 2016). The note examines issues such as promoting employment and labour market policies in response to climate change, supporting a just transition for all and contributing to the goals of decent work for all, social inclusion and the eradication of poverty. Managed well, the transition can not only become a strong driver of job creation and support climate change adaptation and the reallocation of existing jobs, but can also reduce inequalities and skills gaps; while reducing our carbon footprint.
