Professor Marie Bouchard
The ILO and CIRIEC are working on producing a virtual retrospective issue of the Annals of Public and Cooperative Economics (APCE) to commemorate the 100th anniversary of its Cooperatives Unit (COOP) . APCE is published on behalf of the Edgard Milhaud Foundation of the International Centre of Research and Information on the Public, Social and Cooperative Economy (CIRIEC). Marie J. Bouchard, Professor at Université du Québec à Montréal (Canada), and Marieke Louis, Associate Professor at Sciences Po Grenoble (France), have taken lead as co-editors of this retrospective issue analyzing more than 176 articles that were published in APCE between 1925 and 2019. Of these 176 papers they further narrowed the selection to 40 and then to 21 articles.

Dr Marieke Louis
The co-editors are currently working toward a final selection of 10 to 12 articles based on their relevance to the ILO Coop Centenary. The final selection will span across the decades and include articles reflecting on definition of cooperatives and related concepts, managerial and governance aspects, their representation in international organizations, their place and role in different economic regimes, especially developing countries, and focus on their relation to State, market, trade unions and civil society. The virtual retrospective issue will be made available in November 2020.
