Mr Hyungsik Eum
Mr Hyungsik Eum, data analyst in CICOPA and a member of the COPAC Technical Working Group on statistics of cooperative, made a presentation on work and employment forms in cooperatives in a session of the 4th meeting of the Working Group for the revision of the International Classification of Status in Employment (ICSE-93), held on 25-28 September at the ILO Headquarters in Geneva.

This presentation was part of the larger efforts by the ILO and the other members of the Committee for the Promotion and Advancement of Cooperatives (COPAC) toward developing more comprehensive statistics on cooperatives which are also harmonized with other statistical systems. Based on the analysis of different forms of work and employment in cooperatives, Mr Eum made suggestions on how the revised ICSE might be applied to cooperatives and raised some conceptual issues which could be examined further.

In response to the questions raised by the representatives of the national statistics offices participating in the working group he provided reflections on cooperative specificities in relation to the revised ICSE. It is expected that his presentation and the subsequent discussion will inform the revisions to be made by the Working Group to the international classification of status in employment.
