Workshop: Social and Solidarity Economy for Advancing the Sustainable Development Goals in Asia

The ILO will organize a regional workshop as part of the strengthening the social and solidarity economy in Asia – phase 2 project on 14-15 May 2024.

This workshop showcase findings from the project on strengthening the social and solidarity economy in Asia – phase 2. It will convene policymakers, representatives of employers’ and workers’ organizations, international organizations, social and solidarity economy networks, and practitioners to discuss ways to strengthen the social and solidarity economy’s contribution to decent work and the Sustainable Development Goals in Asia and the Pacific.

The workshop’s objective is:
  • Showcase findings from mapping studies on the social and solidarity economy in four countries (Cambodia, Mongolia, Thailand and Viet Nam) and policy implications;
  • Shed light on the social and solidarity economy’s contribution to inclusive and sustainable global supply chain, just transition, formalization of the informal economy and promoting workers’ rights and conditions in digital labour platforms;
  • Provide a platform for policymakers, organizations, supporting institutions, and practitioners to share knowledge, know-how and good practices.
