Anousheh KARVAR
In 2012, she joined the General Inspectorate for Social Affairs, the French Government audit, evaluation and inspection office for social, employment and labour public policies, and was appointed as the Head of Labour and Employment Section of the General Inspectorate (2012-2015).
She was formerly Deputy Director of the Minister of Labour’s cabinet (2016-2017), and Counsellor to the President of the French Parliament, in charge of social policies (2017-2018). She holds a PhD in History and Sociology of Science from the University of Paris – Denis Diderot / Ecole polytechnique.
Michelle Leighton
She serves as an expert appointed to the UNFCCC WIM Task Force on displacement related to climate change, and formerly a member of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Migration. Ms. Leighton has led global and field research teams, including on linkages between human migration and development, environmental and climate change. She has taught on law faculties in Asia, Europe and the United States and authored numerous publications. Following her service as a Fulbright Scholar in Central Asia, she co-founded the American University of Central Asia’s Tian Shan Policy Center at the American University in Bishkek. She has been an adviser and consultant to international institutions, government, and non-profit organizations, leading technical cooperation projects in the Americas, Africa, Europe and Central Asia. She served as the Munich Re Foundation Chair on Social Vulnerability for the UNU-Environment and Human Security institute, Bonn, Germany, as an expert on the German Marshall Fund’s Trans-Atlantic Study Team on Climate and Migration, and Director of the Center for Law and Global Justice Human Rights Program at the University of San Francisco Law School. Early in her career, she co-founded the NGO Natural Heritage Institute in San Francisco, leading programs on environment, migration, corporate social responsibility, and human rights.

As a union member of the "Syndicat National des Journalistes" (SNJ), she has exercised multiple functions representing journalists and the organization. She has been elected general secretary at the national level for many years. Elected to the "Commission de la carte d’identité des journalistes professionnels" (CCIJP), she served in this role for almost 10 years. She also sits on the board of the “Conseil de déontologie journalistique et de mediation” (Council of Journalistic Ethics and Mediation), on the “Maison des lanceurs d’alerte” (Whistleblowers' House), and in various associations for the defence of journalists. She also sits as an arbitrator in the Journalists' Arbitration Commission. She is currently elected to the Executive Committee of the "International Federation of Journalists" (IFJ), the largest representative body of journalists in the world with some 600,000 members in 150 countries.
