The Livestock Carrier ‘ZEIN I’, IMO Number 7622041 is not currently berthed in the Port of Las Palmas. According to AIS information ZEIN I is about 45 miles south of the island of Gran Canaria. There are also claims for unpaid wages according to information from the ITF.

International Group of P&I Clubs stated that:

The insurer West of England have confirmed with the Club that they are no longer the insurers for this vessel. The MLC certificate was cancelled on 30 November 2021. I would be grateful if the records could be amended to reflect this position. Unfortunately, the IG P&I are unable to assist in this abandonment.

Gouv. de Philippines (11 avril 2022)
The Embassy in Madrid reported that vessel ZEIN docked at Las Palmas Port on 15 October 2021 and left 16 October 2021. Per Las Palmas port Authority, it is currently outside Spain's jurisdiction and is moving towards West Africa. It currently has 35 Filipino crew members on board and according to the local manning agency, it was never abandoned. It stayed on anchorage for almost two months in Iskederun, Turkey due to some crew members being infected with COVID-19 and sailed to Las Palmas for loading food and bunkering. The local manning agency clarified that salaries of Filipino crew members and their home allotments are updated and there is also enough food provision on board.

Fed. int. des ouvriers du transport (ITF) (22 avril 2022)
