Fed. Int. de los Trabajadores del Trasporte (ITF) (22 Julio 2022)
The owners, flag state, financial security provider (East of England P&I Association Ltd.), and Indian Embassy / Consulate to Senegal contacted (with reminders sent) intervention but no replies nor acknowledgement received, save from the Indian Consulate saying that they were not in the position to assist with the crew’s contractual matters. Under the circumstances the ITF has arranged and paid for the crew repatriation home (2 Indians and 2 Ukrainians) in April 2022 with thanks to no-objection to leave from the port State. The crew’s outstanding wages of $36,100 remain unpaid and the vessel remains seized by the local Customs Authorities in Dakar.
Note: There are also 3 more seafarers from the ship who are presently imprisoned in Dakar. ITF decided to repatriate the crew on humanitarian grounds.
