Part 3 provides for fundamental rights of employees and employers, including freedom of association. Part 4 regulates registration of trade unions and employers' organizations. Part 5 provides for constitution of trade unions, as well as for trade union federation and amalgamation. Part 6 deals with property, funds and accounts of trade unions. Part 7 makes provision for trade union rights, including right to collective bargaining. Part 8 deals with picketing and intimidation and other matters relating to disputes; Part 9 deals with offences and penalties. Part 10 contains miscellaneous provisions.

    Amends, inter alia, the Industrial Court of Tanzania Act of 1967 by providing that in case of certain voluntary agreements, the Labour Commissioner shall submit the voluntary agreement to the Treasury Registrar, who shall within 45 days from its reception decide on the approval of the agreement.

    Sets forth procedures for settling labour disputes. Trade disputes may be reported to the District Labour Office, which may attempt to negotiate a settlement. Strikes shall be voted on and written notice of such a vote shall be given to the Labour Officer and the employer (s. 8).

    Governs registration of societies. Sections 8 and 9 set forth grounds for refusal of registration, and Section 13 provides for appeals against such decisions. Sections 15-18 regulate information to be provided for registration. Sections 25 and 26 make provision for power to enter and search meeting places, and to make arrests and seizures, if there is reasonable suspicion any place is or is about to be used as a place of meeting of an unlawful society.
