    The revised version effects changes necessitated by the abandonment of the one-party state ideology, including, inter alia, reinforced emphasis on human rights rather than "socialism and self reliance"(art. 9),the elimination of the leading role of the Party, and the introduction of conditions concerning the tenure of office (articles 53 and 57). Chapter 1, Part II specifically provides rights to equality before the law, work, just remuneration, and freedom of association. It also stipulates a duty to participate in work. Chapters 4 and 5 provide for relations with Zanzibar and the structure of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar.
