Part I regulates provision of different types of services to disabled persons, including medical services, measures to improve their integration into working life and community life, and disability benefit. Part II provides for integration of severely disabled persons. Duties of employers vis-ā-vis severely disabled employees are regulated in chapters 2-4.

Act on the prevention of unemployment of severely disabled persons (SchwbBAG). Adoption: 2000-09-29 | Date of entry into force: 2000-10-01 | DEU-2000-L-58702 Section one amends the Law on Severely Disabled Persons, and provides for compensation contribution, duties of the employer and rights of the disabled, integration agreements, prevention, monitoring of progress, integration services, and integration projects. The second section amends the Third Book of the Social Law (SGB Book III), with regard to the integration contribution for the disabled and contributions for compensation of education of the disabled. It furthermore amends the Ordinance on the Compensation for Severely Disabled Persons, especially with regard to the destination of the compensation.

Every employer who employs at least 16 employees must assign six per cent of all working places to disabled persons. Furthermore, disabled employees enjoy special protection regarding dismissals. Every enterprise has a committee to represent the particular interests of disabled persons to ensure that these protective rules are applied.
