  1. Launch of the Alliance for Women Workers' Rights

    A follow up to the ILO Dhaka Gender Audit Recommendation with the aim of promoting women workers rights at the workplace.

  2. Skills Development Policy Consultative Group

    31 August 2009

    The key purpose of the workshop was to obtain comments and feedback on the draft national skills development policy.

  3. Occupational Safety and Health

    24 August 2009

    TVET Reform Project, Bangladesh, jointly funded by the Bangladesh Government, the European Commission and the International Labour Organization (ILO) arranged a day long workshop on “Occupational Safety and Health" (OSH) to raise awareness among industry stakeholders.

  4. Agreement signing ceremony between Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) and NGOs to implement child labour programmes under the ILO-DCC Action Program on Child Labour

    20 August 2009

    Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) has signed an agreement with five national NGOs namely, Dhaka Ahsania Mission, Resource Integration Center, Nari Moitree, Center for Development Services and Population Services and Training Center under the ILO-DCC Action Program on Child Labour. The signing ceremony was held on 20 August 2009 at the Dhalpur Community Center of DCC.

    A consultation forum entitled “Impact of Global Financial on Employment and Labour Market of Bangladesh” held on 19 August 2009 expressed the need for appropriate measures to tackle the impact of the global financial crisis.

  6. ILO celebrates the International Indigenous Peoples' Day

    10 August 2009

    A book launching programme was organized by ILO Office in Bangladesh in cooperation with the Bangladesh Indigenous Peoples’ Forum on the occasion of the International Day of the World's Indigenous People on 10 August 2009.

  7. Workshop on Sector Development Strategy for Agro-Food Processing Sector

    31 July - 1 August 2009

    Mr Dilip Barua, Honorable Minister for Industries was the chief guest at the Agro-Food Processing Sector Development Strategy Workshop organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO) Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) Reform Project held at the UNI Resort in Cox’s Bazar mid August.

  8. World Day Against Child Labour 2009 in Dhaka

    11 - 12 June 2009

    World Day Against Child Labour aims to promote awareness and action to end child labour. This year we are putting special focus on the plight of girls who often endure additional hardships as victims of child labour. Support for the World Day has been growing each year and 2009 will be no exception. Various activities will be taking place around the Dhaka city involving governments, employers, workers, civil society organizations and concerned individuals who care about protecting the rights of children. We invite you to join us this World Day and every day as part of the growing worldwide movement to eliminate child labour.
