Training on International Labour Standards for Constituents

ILO-Dhaka organized a training workshop on International Labour Standards (ILS) on 21 - 22 December 2009 at BRAC CDM at Rajendrapur in Gazipur. The key objective of this training was to develop capacity of constituents to have clear understanding on ILS, procedures of ratification of ILO conventions, supervisory mechanism and role of constituents and reporting obligation.

ILO office in Bangladesh organized a training on International Labour Standards (ILS) from 21 - 22 December 2009 at BRAC CDM at Rajendrapur, Gazipur. The key objective of this training was to develop capacity of constituents to play an active role in the procedures of ratification of ILS, supervisory mechanism and reporting obligation of Bangladesh.

ILO-Dhaka organized a training workshop on International Labour Standards (ILS) on 21 - 22 December 2009 at BRAC CDM at Rajendrapur in Gazipur. The key objective of this training was to develop capacity of constituents to have clear understanding on ILS, procedures of ratification of ILO conventions, supervisory mechanism and role of constituents and reporting obligation. A total of 23 participants who were from Ministry of Labour and Employment, Department of Labour, Inspectorate of Factories and Establishment and representatives of employers’ and workers’ organizations participated in the programme.

Mr Coen Kompier, Senior Specialist of Labour Standard from SRO Delhi, conducted the technical sessions comprising of ILO conventions and recommendations, reporting obligations and Committee of Experts’ report on Bangladesh, supervisory mechanism and the role of constituents, etc.

In the training, participants discussed the procedures of ratification of a convention in Bangladesh, emphasized on need for effective participation of the constituents to fulfill reporting obligations and also how to improve the application of the ILO conventions and recommendations.
