4th review of Sustainability Compact for garment sector

4th Sustainability Compact review recognises progress as well as challenges still to be addressed in ready made garment sector.

On June 25, 2018, the partners of the Sustainability Compact for the Bangladesh Ready Made Garment Sector – the Government of Bangladesh (GoB), the European Union (EU), the United States of America (USA), Canada, and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) – met for the fourth follow-up meeting in Brussels, Belgium.

The meeting aimed at assessing progress made since the last meeting on May 18, 2017 in Dhaka and to review priorities for the coming year.

The Sustainability Compact to promote continuous improvements in labour rights and factory safety in the Ready Made Garment and Knitwear Industry in Bangladesh was launched on 8 July 2013 in the aftermath of the Rana Plaza collapse
