UNIDO team visits TVET Reform project

A six person UNIDO team visited the TVETR project to discuss UNIDO contributions to a joint concept note by UN agencies on skills development currently being prepared. The concept note has the National Skills Development Policy as a central theme to which agency activities can be linked.

UNIDO currently has a number of projects in Bangladesh with more in the pipeline. The projects cover areas such as quality control and capacity building in ready-made garments, shrimp and dairy products. The delegation was keen to see the joint concept note completed so that a pilot project involving several UN agencies could be planned and implemented. Currently, UNICEF, ILO, UNFPA, UNESCO, IOM, UNDP, UN Women and now UNIDO have provided inputs to the joint concept note. The UNIDO visit coincides with large investments by the Government and development partners in the area of skills development both for the formal and informal economy.
