Learning Dissemination Event for Piloting Model Enterprise Clinics, Organized By BGMEA
Under the Employment Injury Scheme (EIS) Project, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) organized a learning dissemination event for piloting model enterprise clinics in BGMEA member factories on 25 June 2023
DHAKA (ILO News) – Under the Employment Injury Scheme (EIS) Project, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) organized a learning dissemination event for piloting model enterprise clinics in BGMEA member factories.
On 25 June 2023, BGMEA organized a ‘Learning Dissemination Event’ to share the learnings with the relevant stakeholders on implementing handbook and checklist of model enterprise clinics in BGMEA factories. A total of 60 participants (female 10) including President, Vice-president, and Directors from BGMEA, President of JSL, President and Secretary General from IBC, and other representatives from BGMEA, NCCWE, participating factories, ILO, CMED Health Ltd. attended the event.
ILO along with its knowledge partner CMED, developed a handbook and checklist of model enterprise clinics based on relevant regulations from the Bangladesh Labour Law, Bangladesh Labour Rules, and suggestions from relevant stakeholders. BGMEA was actively involved in this process. Following the checklist and handbook, BGMEA carried out a baseline assessment in 15 factories, and based on the assessment, developed an action plan to improve Enterprise Clinics in factories. Upon completion of the end-line assessment, BGMEA organized this dissemination event to share learnings from this piloting with the relevant stakeholders. Participants from the factories appreciated the handbook and shared that they found the handbook useful, particularly the concept of establishing 4 members health committee.
This activity is part of ILO’s Project on ‘Implementing the Employment Injury Scheme Pilot (EIS-Pilot)’ funded by Government of Netherlands. Under this programme, ILO and GIZ are jointly providing technical support to the Government of Bangladesh, Employers and Workers’ organizations.
