Grand Finale – SPARK Youth Entrepreneurship Competition 2023

SPARK is a nationwide competition designed for Sri Lanka's upcoming generation of entrepreneurs. It invites young innovators to present their ideas and solutions addressing the most urgent challenges of our era. Having received hundreds of applications, the competition used a comprehensive shortlisting procedure, involving virtual training, in-person boot camps, and mentoring sessions. The Grand Finale will hear the final five contestants who have successfully navigated this process.

Certificate awarding ceremony for the training course on Maritime and Seamanship by Mahapola Port and Maritime Academy

The Mahapola Port and Maritime Academy, supported by the Government of Japan, and ILO Sri Lanka with the facilitation of the National Union of Seafarers of Sri Lanka (NUSS) successfully conducted the awarding ceremony for the 22 trainees who completed the training course on Maritime and Seamanship on 20 December 2022.

The ILO, Sri Lanka under its Safe Labour Migration Project (Phase IV) jointly with the HELVETAS, Sri Lanka conducted a consultation on “training manual and tool-kit development” for the trade union members on 12 August 2022. A fruitful discussion was held with the active participation of 15 trade union members.
