21 million euros pledged at UNGA for Global Accelerator on Jobs and Social Protection for Just Transitions
Belgium, Germany and Spain have pledged 21 million euros for the Global Accelerator on Jobs and Social Protection for Just Transitions. This ILO-coordinated initiative aims to support the creation of millions of decent jobs and extend universal social protection to billions who are currently not covered.

Let’s bend the arc of history in favour of social justice, says ILO Director-General
At the World of Work Summit, the ILO’s Director-General, Gilbert F. Houngbo, advocated the need for a new social contract driven by solidarity and fairness. Nicolas Schmit, European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, and Karien van Gennip, the Minister of Social Affairs and Employment of the Netherlands, participated in two high-level panels, organized during the Summit.

ILO Director-General makes first visit to Belgium
During his first official visit to Brussels, the ILO Director-General met several EU Commissioners to discuss the bilateral cooperation with the European Commission.
He also met two Deputy Prime Ministers of Belgium and the Belgian social partners.
