Child labour policy discussion to take place on World Day Against Child Labour
The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, in collaboration with the International Labour Organization and World Vision, is organizing a Child Labour Policy Discussion on the occasion of the World Day Against Child Labour.
The policy discussion on "Social Justice for All. End Child Labour!" will take place on 12 June 2023, from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm at the Diamond Conference Hall of the Blue Sky Hotel.
The discussion will assess Mongolia's progress and challenges in achieving the goal of complete elimination of all forms of child labour by 2024, as outlined in the SDG 8 by the UN. Additionally, recommendations for future solutions will be provided. In connection with this, at this discussion, the National Statistics Office will present the preliminary results of the Child Labour Survey that has been conducted in 2021-2022.
Additionally, Ms Bharati Pflug, ILO senior specialist, fundamental principles and rights at work, based in BKK will participate in this discussion and share her insights on international best practices for eliminating the worst forms of child labour.
The event will commence with opening remarks from Ms Anujin Purev-Ochir, Chair of Social Policy Standing Committee of the Parliament, Ms Bulgantuya Khurelbaatar, Minister for Labour and Social Protection, Ms. Axelle Nicaise, the Ambassador of the EU Delegation to Mongolia, and Ms. Bharati Pflug, ILO Senior Specialist, Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.
Members of the media, stakeholders, and the general public are invited to join the Child Labour Policy Discussion on June 12, 2023, at the Diamond Conference Hall of the Blue Sky Hotel.
