Hazardous child labour list is being updated

Mongolia has ratified the ILO Conventions 138 and 182 and has adopted and revised the Hazardous child labour list since 2008. Labour Law of Mongolia was revised in 2021 and brought it more compliant with the international labour standards.

The current list of jobs prohibited for minors was approved by the Minister for Labour in 2016. With approval of Labour law in July 2021 and it going into effect from January 1, 2022, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection (MLSP) consults with Mongolian Employers' Federation (MONEF) and Confederation of Mongolian Trade Unions (CMTU), as well as other stakeholders to update the list and determine light work children of age 13-15 can take up.
