1. Saphan Siang Photo Exhibition. 24-29 July 2012, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Bangkok, Thailand.

   24 - 29 July 2012, Thailand.

   Saphan Siang (Bridge of Voices) aims to start a movement among Thai youth to highlight the positive contribution that migrants make to the Thai economy and society. This photo competition and exhibition aims to highlight the way that migrants make their lives better.

1. Training Programme on Prevention of Trafficking in Persons for Recruitment Agents

   28 May 2012, Colombo, Sri Lanka

   This Programme will be conducted for 75 Recruitment Agents in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE). The rationale for the Programme is that Recruitment Agents are in a position to raise awareness on the legal channels of migrating for foreign employment and thereby minimize the vulnerability to trafficking. The Sessions will include topics such as ‘Introduction to Trafficking in Persons – International & National Standards, Trafficking for Labour Exploitation, Complaints mechanism, Identification of Victims and offenders, Kafala system and the potential for abuse.

2. Training Programme on Trafficking in Persons for Immigration Officers

   22 - 24 May 2012, Colombo, Sri Lanka

   This Programme will be conducted for 100 Immigration Officers based at the Bandaranaike International Airport. Sessions will include, Investigations to identify trafficking offenders & victims, channeling cases to the relevant law enforcement authorities, Foreign Employment and the legal recruitment process, International & National laws on Trafficking in Persons, Identification of forged documentation, Child Trafficking.

3. "Visioning Event on Managing Skills and Employability for Decent Work through Building a Community of Practice and a Roadmap for the Regional Skills Programme"

   22 - 24 May 2012, Bangkok, Thailand

   In order to foster more ownership within the Regional Skills Network from its members, it is planned that the next Regional Skills Network meeting explicitly include the future of the Regional Skills Network and the role of member States and social partners in running it, besides the technical discussion on skills trends and anticipation. It is planned that during this meeting, the modalities and engagement and structure will be decided and how the CoP (ILO online “Community of Practice” which encourages online discussion forums on relevant skills topics by experts and implementing units) for Skills and Employability will play a role for knowledge sharing and utilisation as a part of the capacity building process.

4. Regional and national workshop on Unemployment Insurance

   21 - 24 May 2012, Sabah , Sarawak and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

   Regional and national workshop on Unemployment Insurance in Sabah , Sarawak and Kuala Lumpur, during 21,22 and 24 May respectively. Cohosted by ILO-SOCSO and MOHR.

6. Malaysia Ministry of Human Resource – ILO Training Course on the Labour Dimensions of Trafficking in Persons.

   21 - 23 May 2012, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

   The ILO TRIANGLE project will support the Division of Labour Policy, Department of Labour, MOHR to conduct a training course on the labour dimensions of trafficking in persons. The ILO has conducted similar training courses in the past for tripartite constituents in the region and at the global level. The training modules will be adapted to the Malaysian context and will be delivered by Malaysian Government officials and the ILO Regional Migration Specialist and the ILO Special Action Programme on Forced Labour (SAP-FL).

7. Community-Based Pilot Training (C-BED)

   21 - 23 May 2012, Tayabas, Quezon

   Community-Based Enterprise Development (C-BED) is a newly developed ILO intervention tool which builds the capacity of current aspiring entrepreneurs without the use of external trainers or facilitators.

8. ILO and human resource development fund signed the fund -in -trust Agreement on the technical cooperation on Green Jobs

   15 May 2012, Malaysia

   The project will start implementation in June 2012 till Setember 2013

9. Hands-On Training on “How to cost, finance and monitor Social Protection Schemes?”

   15 - 17 May 2012, Bangkok, Thailand

   This course enables participants to gain technical expertise on the design and costing of social protection policies; discuss issues related to financing and Learn how to assess and measure the impact of social protection programmes on poverty reduction and other indicators.

10. Workshop on Labour Disputes and Settlement in the Public Service

    15 - 16 May 2012, The Bayleaf Hotel, Intramuros, Manila

    The workshop is in support to the clamor of public sector unions towards ratification of Convention 151 and to enhance their capacities in addressing collective bargaining issues and labour dispute resolutions in the public service sector.

11. Training Programme on Prevention of Trafficking in Persons for Airport Taxi Drivers, Cab Drivers, 3 wheeler taxi drivers

    15 - 20 May 2012, Colombo, Sri Lanka

    Three Training Programmes will be conducted for 100 Airport Taxi Drivers, 100 Taxi Cab Drivers, and 100 3 Wheeler drivers. The rationale being that taxi drivers, by virtue of their vocation may come into contact with victims and offenders of human trafficking, and as such are in an ideal position to report such cases to the law enforcement authorities. The Training Programme will include the following sessions; What is Human Trafficking- trafficking for labour exploitation, commercial sexual exploitation etc. , National laws and penalties for the offence of trafficking, Trauma & Psychological impact on victims, Investigation and reporting of cases, Legal Recruitment processes & Foreign Employment.

12. Roll-Out Training for Experienced Ecotour Guides

    14 - 16 May 2012, Senaru, Lombok , Indonesia

    The main purpose of the roll-out training for ecotour guides is to provide experienced tour-guides, as well as potential ecotour guides, the opportunity to develop the necessary skills to plan and manage ecotours in line with the national competency standards for ecotour guides defined by the Indonesian Government.

13. A Regional Consultative Forum on Welfare & Protection of Migrant Workers"

    13 - 15 May 2012, Amman, Jordan

    A Regional Consultation is planned from 13-15th May 2012 in Amman Jordan, to review operational guidelines in Sri Lankan Diplomatic Missions to ensure the protection of migrant workers titled "Consultative Forum on Welfare & Protection of Migrant Workers" organized by Ministry of Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare and Ministry of External Affairs in collaboration with the ILO Office Colombo, as part of ILOs support to the Government to implement the National Labour Migration Policy. Sixty participants are expected including Senior decision makers from both Ministries and the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau, Ambassadors and labour officers from SL missions in 13 Gulf Corporation Council(GCC) countries as well as the far east together with ILO experts from the region and Geneva. The event will support the finalization of an Operational Manual for Sri Lankan Missions in labour receiving countries.

14. Roll-Out Training for Beginner Ecotour Guides

    11 - 13 May 2012, Sembalun, West Nusatenggara, Indonesia

    Under this activity, participants will be trained on the skills requirements to meet national ecotour guide competency standards, aimed at enabling participants to enhance their abilities and increase their employability within the tourism industry.

15. Start and Improve Your Business Training of Trainers (SIYB-ToT) Post Evaluation Workshop

    10 May 2012, TESDA Compound, Pagbilao, Quezon

    This one-day event seeks to pool the graduates of ILO SIYB - ToT training in Quezon, Province. The workshop will follow a structured set of guide questions to process and consolidate the learning and recommendations for conducting SIYB-ToT. The workshop will also formulate an action plan to ensure the application of the module and enhance the business skills in Quezon Province and neighboring areas.

16. Training of Trainers for Judges in the Industrial Relations Court on International Labour Standards

    7 - 11 May 2012, Puncak, West Java, Indonesia

    The Supreme Court of Indonesia, the Industrial Relations Court (IRC), Judicial Training Centre and ILO are working in partnership to develop a training program for newly appointed judges to the Industrial Relations Court.

17. Training of Trainers (ToT) for Ecotour Guides

    7 - 10 May 2012, Mataram, West Nusatenggara, Indonesia

    One of the selected activities to be undertaken by the Green Jobs in Asia project is a Training of Trainer (ToT) workshop on eco tour guiding for skilled tour guides in the Lombok area. Training will be designed to be participatory and interactive, encouraging participants to advocate for sustainable tourism in the West Nusatenggara.

18. Launch of the Vermicomposting Project

    7 May 2012, Mulanay, Quezon

    In partnership with FAO, the local Government of Mulanay and Social Action Center, the Bondoc-LED project will launch the "Vermicomposting Project" in Mulanay, Quezon. The project supports the sustainable use of natural resources available in the area to promote the practice of organic farming. The vermicomposting project seeks to capacitate the local farmers and produce their own organic fertilizers to address long-term issues on environment and food security, and advocate for green jobs and sustainable livelihoods.

19. Dealing with Labour Issues in Export Supply Chains – Labour Rights and CSR – The Case of Thailand.

    4 May 2012, Amari Watergate, Bangkok, Thailand

    Jointly organized by the ILO-IPEC programme and ECOT, the meeting will be an opportunity to provide better understanding of labour and human rights issues in supply chains as well as proactive approaches to address these issues in industry and businesses in Thailand. The half-day meeting is par of a partnership between the ILO and the Royal Thai Government to work on the issues of child labour, forced labour and improvements of working conditions and competitiveness of businesses in Thailand.
