Singapore-Norway Third Country Training Programme on Decent Work Agenda

The training programme aims to help participating countries make progress towards full, protective employment, and decent work for all.

Objective
Organized by Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Manpower (MOM), in partnership with the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Singapore and the ILO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, the training programme aims to help participating countries work towards full and protective employment, and decent work for all.

Agenda
26 participants from ASEAN and South Asia joined the training. The topics covered included social dialogue, tripartism, social protection, labour inspection, occupational safety and health and employment creation. Participants were also able to visit a careers centre in Singapore to observe how career and training services were provided to locals.

Four specialists from the ILO attended the training and contributed a wide range of knowledge and practical experiences to the session. In particular they briefed participants on the Regional Priorities and the ILO Decent Work Agenda in Asia-Pacific, the Decent Work Country Programme for Sri Lanka (2013 – 2017), Social and Health Protection and Experiences from Asia, and Employment Creation, Youth Employment and Skills Development.
The participants found the training programme informative and well-structured. The ILO and MOM provided a comprehensive overview of the decent work agenda, and the case studies cited helped to illustrate key points and strengthen participants’ understanding of the subject.
